Little Love
I've had little legs wrapped around mine since Friday night.
It's been
kinda fantastic.
My mom has been staying with us since then and Little Love said,
"Nana can stay in my room. I'll sleep with you and Daddy. I like your bed the best 'cause you're there."
It's not only those precious words that make my heart burst - the closeness he has for us, that unwavering security he feels, the unconditional love...
I come home from school late at night and often find him like this:
I'll slip into bed, trying not to disturb him...
His little legs find mine in his deep slumber and
keep me in a dreamlike quality of nurturing wonderfulness.
It's like he's taking care of me as he sleeps.
He snuggles into my hubby's back and wraps his
little legs around me.
He uses me as a body pillow a lot of the time.
His hands look for mine and sometimes I wake up
with his little hand on my face.
I will miss
the days that he no longer crawls into our bed in the middle of the night.
If he gets cold, if he wakes up in the middle of the night, he
knows he can come to us.
We're his security
blanket.
This is love.
