Dear Mr. Affleck,
So I weeped a bit last night.
I watched the Oscars and the acceptance speeches always do this to me.
I'm a sap...
Actually, no I'm not a sap - that sounds like I'm weak.
I just have a lot of emotion.
I cry.
I laugh.
I'm full.
So when Ben Affleck was accepting the award for Best Picture with his co-producers,
I teared up.
This part was what really got me:
"...you have to work harder than you think you possibly can. You can't hold grudges. It's hard but you can't hold grudges. And it doesn't matter how you get knocked down in life because that's going to happen. All that matters is you gotta get up..."
Holding Grudges.
Getting Back Up.
He hit right on the nail.
Good job, Mr. Affleck.
Yes, I remember when he won the award for Best Screenplay with Matt Damon for
Good Will Hunting.
That was a very different Affleck.
I am enjoyng the humble Ben now.
The one that's keeping it real.
The one who grew up.
The one who loves his wife and acknowledges it.
"I want to thank my wife who I don't usually associate with Iran. I want to thank you for working on our marriage for 10 Christmases. It's good. It is work but it's the best kind of work and there's no one I'd rather work."
So, yes I just wrote a blog post about an acceptance speech by Ben Affleck.
And, that's okay.
I liked the message behind it.
It worked for me.
...and I didn't want to write about Jennifer Lawrence tripping and getting a standing ovation.
Cute...but not blog post worthy.
{wink}
